Destinations for your Scotland Golf Vacation
There are many airlines flying between the U.S. and Scotland but they all arrive at one of three destinations:
Edinburgh International Airport– The country's Capitol and cultural center located on the East Coast
Glasgow International Airport – The country's industrial center and largest city located on the West Coast
Glasgow Prestwick International Airport – The newest international airport located west of Glasgow in Ayrshire. Fewer flights head here.
HINT: Fly Direct to Scotland if Possible
There is a big advantage in taking a direct flight, especially one that doesn't require you to go through London's Heathrow Airport. Transferring at Heathrow will add hours to your trip. The trade-off is almost always between less expensive but more in-direct flights and more expensive flights that avoid transfers and layovers. A little time spent with one of the on-line travel agents listed below will allow you to find the flight that is the best balance for you.
Shop and Compare
The best way to find your most ideal flight is to use at least three web-based ticket "agents." Click the same information into each of the sites below, compare the results, and make your choice.
NOTE: When making flight reservations you will need to know the Airport Codes for the three International Scottish Airports. They are:
EDI = Edinburgh International Airport
GLA = Glasgow International Airport
PIK = Glasgow Prestwick Airport |
